With slight modification, serves its purpose, but could be better.

Useful at the bottom of our stairs. Unfortunately, not quite as helpful as we hoped. It is extremely noisy to open and close, so don't even think about opening it if your baby has just fallen asleep. It also doesn't install as directed with the supplied screws. Some bean counter likely thought they were doing the company a favor by replacing the screws the engineers had tested with a cheaper type of screw. Same size but with a fatter head. The result - the screw heads protrude so far that the gate can not be installed in the supplied bracket. Thankfully, I had alternate screws in my garage with flat heads. My bean counter stupidity story is only my guess at how such an oversight happened. I hope I'm correct, otherwise the alternative is that they never bothered assembling and installing any of their gates to perform testing, and I'd like to hope that isn't the case.
