Okay for home use, but not up to school build quality
This item is based on an interesting idea, namely that students who can burn off some energy in class without disrupting others will be more attentive, less disruptive, and learn more. In fact, it seems to be true. We bought 2 of these desks for a classroom of middle school special education students with behavior problems - including lots of ADHD. Kids like being able to stand at the desk and do their work, and to rock the swing bar with their foot all without disturbing others. HOWEVER, the quality of the design and construction is surprisingly poor - especially for a student desk that is much more expensive than traditional student desks.
Specifically, the problems have to do with the swing bar and adjustable metal legs. 1) The swing bar is made of hollow metal tubing such that a 6th grader putting 50 lbs of their body weight on it causes it to deflect at the bottom and thereby contract the bar resulting in it popping out of its mounting on the frame - and to fall to the...
